Building endowments in priority areas

Several initiatives are underway at the Foundation to build endowments for long-term support of key community priorities in the East Bay Jewish community:

Jewish Special Education

In partnership with the Center for Jewish Living and Learning (CJLL) of the Jewish Community Federation of the Greater East Bay, the Foundation has created an initiative to enhance programs that support Jewish special education.

The intention of the CJLL and the Foundation is to grow endowment funding for these programs out of a partnership with all concerned or involved with Jewish special needs education.

Funding for Jewish special education in the East Bay is provided by the Shelley and Elliott Fineman Family Endowment for Jewish Special Education, the Daniel King Memorial Endowment for Jewish Special Education, and the Kravitz-Fisher Family Endowment for Jewish Special Education.

To get involved in building Jewish special education endowments, contact Steve Brown, Director of Legacy Development or Rabbi James Brandt, CJLL Director at (510) 839-2900.

Jewish Community Teen Foundation

By enabling young people to participate in meaningful activities that offer responsibility and the opportunity to practice Tikkun Olam in a community of peers, the East Bay Jewish Community Teen Foundation (EBJCTF) helps to ensure that Jewish youth in the East Bay community carry forth the philanthropic spirit of their heritage well into the 21st century.

Funding for the EBJCTF is generously provided by the Morton and Amy Friedkin Supporting Foundation of The Jewish Community Foundation, the Ronald and Gail Rubenstein Philanthropic Fund of The Jewish Community Foundation, the Shoresh Foundation, and the David B. Klein Foundation.

Scholarships

The Foundation's scholarship endowments help provide opportunities for learning and growth to people whose financial contraints might otherwise exclude them.

Israel trips

High school, college, and Torah study trips to Israel are made available thanks to the Goodman Family Israel High School and College Scholarship Fund, the Herb and Marianne Friedman Israel Scholarship Fund, the Eisner Youth to Israel Fund, the Amalie and Henry Schudmak Fund, the Derek Elias Israel Memorial Scholarship Fund for Young Adult Study in Israel, and the Israel Trip Scholarship Fund.

Israel trip scholarships are administered in conjunction with the Jewish Community Federation of the Greater East Bay.

Summer camperships are awarded in conjunction with the Jewish Community Federation of the Greater East Bay.
