The Jewish Community Foundation is pleased to offer scholarships and awards through select endowment funds.
The Foundation's endowments are a permanent source of funding to strengthen Jewish life and literacy in the East Bay, providing youth and their families with access to college education, Jewish summer camps, programs in Israel and leadership development opportunities.

Leadership Development
Trips to Israel: High School and College Programs
Eligibility:
High school and college students residing in the East Bay (Alameda, Contra Costa, Napa and Solano counties) may apply to attend a Jewish program of travel, study or volunteering in Israel.
Students attend high-school programs such as the East Bay Federation’s Let’s Go! teen trip, Camp Ramah, Nesiya and others. College students have attended the Hebrew University of Jerusalem summer ulpan, and others.
Financial aid applications will be available during the first week of December.
Deadline to apply: The Foundation accepts applications on a rolling basis and requests are reviewed each quarter. Deadlines for quarterly review in 2009:

Jewish Summer Day Camp and Overnight Camp
Financial Aid is available for Jewish summer day camp and overnight programs from the Bernard Hurwitz and Ethel Adler Hurwitz Summer Camperships Fund of The Jewish Community Foundation. Applications will be due in Spring 2009.
Eligibility:
Families must reside in the East Bay (Alameda, Contra Costa, Napa and Solano counties) in order to apply for financial aid.

College Education
The Max and Erica Weingarten Education Philanthropic Fund of The Jewish Community Foundation provides need-based financial aid for young adults to attend an eligible university.
Preference will be given to Jewish applicants who are Bay Area residents and have demonstrated academic achievement.
Spring and Fall deadlines: September 5, 2008 and April 15, 2009.

Jewish Arts, Scholarship and Education
The Fromer Fund of The Jewish Community Foundation provides an annual incentive award of approximately $1,000 for projects in Jewish arts, scholarship or education. Past awards have supported the production of films, curricula, journals, and exhibits.

Jewish Communal Leadership Development
The Celia and Moses Lesser Leadership Development Fund of The Jewish Community Foundation provides stipends for outstanding young leaders to attend a Federation-related event such as the General Assembly or overseas mission.
