The three Jewish Day Schools in the East Bay collectively
provide scholarships to 35% of our students for a combined
financial assistance budget of $1,084,140. While tuition
revenues and fundraising efforts provide a significant
revenue stream, as enrollments increase scholarship
needs have also increased, due to a higher number of
students requiring financial aid.

Early Childhood Scholarships for Unaffiliated and
Interfaith Jewish Families; Pre-School Admissions Director;
and Family Outreach

To provide need-based scholarships for Jewish families
that would be primarily targeted to interfaith and unaffiliated
families to enable them to enroll their children in
the Center's Nursery School; to hire a part-time Admissions
Director for its Pre-School program. This position will
enable the School to more aggressively pursue its objective
of expanding student enrollment, thus more quickly expanding
this important revenue stream of the Center; and to
create a Sunday Outreach program for families living
in areas surrounding Walnut Creek. Using Sundays at
the outdoor pool, the JCC and the Federation Regional
Office will provide fun, food and entertainment for
parents and children on 6 Sundays to begin to involve
them in the JCC's programs.

Berkeley Hillel has developed a new young adult program
that offers social, religious/spiritual, educational,
social action and arts/culture activities. As the program
develops more, they hope to give participants an opportunity

as professional skills development.

Start Program for it's Nursery School. This unique early

values based upon the classical Jewish text, "Pirkei
Avot," the "Ethics of Our Fathers."

educators. The fellowship will strengthen the personal

Israel), Adolescent Development, Organizational Life,
and Programming and Practice.

program will enable 30+ families to experience the joys
of Jewish family camp in an inclusive, accepting and

the families' primary connection with the Jewish community.

Holocaust Survivor Management Services

frail population of Holocaust survivors whom we serve
in both counties , enabling people to live at home with

Providing Jewish Education for all: Preparing Our Teachers
to Serve Students with Special Learning Needs

Religious Schools, Jewish Day Schools, and Midrasha
Community High Schools who registered to participate
in the CJLL Special Needs Teacher Training. Training
will include attendance at four Teacher Training Workshops

CJLL learning specialist. Teachers completing the four
2 1/2 hour training sessions and associated assignments
will receive a professional development stipend.

Non-Medical Modalities

From the first stages of physical decline that necessitates
extended periods of bed rest, a resident participating
in the Bedside Program receives a comprehensive therapeutic
program of life enhancement, psychological support and
hope. In turn, family and friends receive support and
guidance as they cope with End of Life Issues. "The
Bedside Program: Palliative and Comfort Care Using Non-Medical
Modalities" focuses on life and future thinking
at a time when hopelessness and depression may overwhelm
the resident and the family.

The JMF presents a festival every March that includes
concerts of internationally and nationally known artists;
participatory events such as dances, instrumental "jams,"and
a Community Music Day, highlighting local musicians.
Since 2002, we have also conducted a school and community

schools and organizations throughout the Bay Area.

brochure that includes a calendar and guide to the Jewish

and distribute this brochure to educators in both Alameda
and Contra Costa Counties. Funds are needed to produce
the brochure and implement this outreach program. |
